We were deeply honored to welcome so many distinguished guests at the memorial and monument dedication for the brave men who lost their lives while helping build the 579th missile silos in Roswell. It was an especially meaningful moment to have the family of one of those men, Jacinto Flores of Corona, NM, join us in remembrance.

Jacinto Flores was born on November 25, 1905, in Mexico and came to the United States at the age of three. His life and hard work were tragically cut short on August 29, 1960. His daughter, Jean Flores-Chavez, and grandson, Charlie Flores, stood with us to honor his memory, reminding us of the sacrifices made by so many for our nation’s progress.
A special thank you to author and pilot Sue Critz whose dedication and meticulous research made this memorial possible. Her generosity in funding this tribute ensures that these men will never be forgotten. The beautiful monument, built by Sadler and Son Monument Works stands as a lasting testament to their legacy.
This event was a powerful reminder of the resilience and courage of those who built our country’s infrastructure, and we are grateful to everyone who joined us in remembrance.
